8 Weeks Pregnancy Update

Your 8 weeks pregnant!!

224 days to go!

Baby is measuring: 0.6 inches & 0.04 oz 📏

Size of: Jelly Bean, raspberry, or kidney bean 🍬

Your baby:

Growing about a millimeter each day!

You can’t feel him or her yet, but the baby’s moving those arms and legs like crazy!

Baby’s fingers and toes are now only slightly webbed, and his or her tail (yes, there was one) is gone.

Baby’s taste buds are now forming.

The head is disproportionately large at this stage. 👶🏼

The external genitalia is almost nonexistent. Ina girl, no uterus or tubes have formed internally. The ovary in a female embryo and testes in a male embryo are currently just ridges of tissue, without any of the characteristics of either reproductive organ.

Your baby’s heart has already developed, with four chambers beating at about 160 beats per minute. 💓

Your baby’s eyes appear open because the eyelids have just started to appear and have yet to fuse. The pigment is just starting to accumulate within the retina of the eye.

Your body:

What stinks? Your hormones are heightening your sense of smell and making your stomach turn. 🤢

Wacky pregnancy dreams? Unfortunately, those will keep continuing.

Having bigger, heavier, and sore breasts? That is because milk-producing lobules in your boobs are starting to expand. (Running the warm water in the shower on them seemed to help me have slight relief) 🚿

Early pregnancy cramps is a typical symptom as well. The ligaments in your abdomen are stretching as your uterus expands.

Other tummy issues are constipation, indigestion, bloating and heartburn.

You probably feel extra nauseated, hungry and tired right now. That is because your body is still adjusting to all those hormonal changes. It typically changes once you’re in your second trimester!
