18 weeks

Your 18 weeks pregnant!!

154 days to go!

Baby is measuring: 5.6 inches & 6.7 oz πŸ“
Size: Sweet potato or artichoke 🍠

Your baby:

The sex of your baby should now be apparent on a ultrasound scan, but you may not have this for a couple of weeks yet.

Although the outer ear is well developed at this stage, inner ear structures will continue to mature throughout your pregnancy.πŸ‘‚πŸ»

Your baby continues to grow quickly and is now capable of a variety of expressions, including smiling, frowning, yawning, stretching, and even hiccuping.

Its taste buds are starting to develop, and it can now tell sweet and bitter flavors apart when swallowing tiny bits of amniotic fluid.πŸ‘…

His or her eyes are now developed enough for it to react to light.

Your body:

Baby’s kicks- they’re getting stronger! πŸ’ͺ🏻

Swollen feet and/or hands. An annoying pregnancy symptom, but nothing to worry about as long as the swelling isn’t sudden or severe.

Backaches. Baby’s putting a lot of pressure on your insides. 😩

Leg cramps. They can be a sign of dehydration, so drink up!

Varicose veins, a product of all that extra pressure on your circulatory system.

Trouble sleeping. Your mind is working overtime and you’re getting more and more uncomfortable. πŸ›

Increased pressure on the veins in your nose may be causing nosebleeds.

Things to do: πŸ“

  • Read up on baby careπŸ“š
  • Plan a date night with your partner.
  • Switch your sleep position from back to side. Preferably left side, since it is known to provide better circulation to baby.
